The away venues have ranged in huge contrast. Playing at Crystal Palace is always a pleasure but who can recall The Milk Marketing Board's venue in Surrey? Basically a gravel tennis court with a roof over it! Or the tiny gym at Southlands School in Wimbledon where you had to hang off the climbing bars when not playing. The cauldron at Plymouths arena with 1000s of local fans baying for blood! The trip to Westminster’s home venue – hostile or what.......play the game, forget a shower just jump in the car and get home!!! Without any of these (and other) venues our history would not be possible. Likewise a huge ‘thank you’ to every table official / team organiser and referee across the country – whose time and involvement allows this game we love to function. Apologies also if we’ve ever shouted at the refs!
